In the hands of our Studio Teacher, it becomes many parts. Small hands and large imaginations act on the parts that will never be a “box” again!

The magic on the cover of this yearbook illustrates the collective expression of a process that includes fine motor work, visual and spatial consideration, the literal challenge of connecting the pieces, and a lot of imagination that unfolds with each interaction with the parts. The end-product is rarely a consideration.
This is an example of the process of thinking that is so natural to human beings. The process of open-ended action on materials nurtures the brain and imagination. It also supports more literal, academic pursuit that follows developmentally.
The process of thinking is alive in every classroom every day. Blocks become buildings, transportation hubs, even people. Paper becomes a kite, a flower, a message, a hat. Words become conversations, stories, plays, feelings. Touching becomes affection, the action of a character in a play, rough and tumble play, a desire for connection. An empty box becomes a monster, a sky-scraper, a space ship until it is transformed into small parts never to be a box again!

Have a wonderful,
magical summer full of small parts!
